A law firm seeks an experienced Financial Lines Attorney to join its national and international insurance team. Based in Basking Ridge, NJ, this position offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex financial line cases. The ideal candidate will bring litigation experience across various insurance coverage lines and will contribute to the firm's thought leadership efforts in the field. This role is well-suited for an attorney who enjoys both challenging legal work and the opportunity to engage in business development initiatives.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in disputes related to financial lines insurance, including but not limited to D&O liability, professional liability, employment practices, fidelity, and crime.
  • Manage and execute litigation strategies, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and reports.
  • Take depositions, argue motions, and represent clients in mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategic advice on complex insurance coverage issues.
  • Actively engage in marketing and business development efforts, including publishing articles, attending professional association events, and contributing to thought leadership in the financial lines space.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and industry experts to deliver exceptional legal services.
  • Contribute to practice growth by developing relationships with existing and potential clients.

Requirements:

  • Experience in insurance coverage litigation, with a focus on financial lines (D&O liability, professional liability, etc.).
  • Strong experience in dispute resolution, including drafting and arguing motions, taking depositions, and preparing cases for trial.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a diverse caseload and collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Excellent communication and legal writing skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience in marketing, publishing, or involvement in professional associations is a plus.
  • Admission to the bar in the state of New Jersey (required); additional state bar admissions are advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar (required).
  • Additional certifications or bar memberships are a plus.

  • Expertise in financial lines insurance coverage and dispute resolution.
  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and drafting of legal documents.
  • Experience in litigation management and case strategy development.
