A law firm in St. Petersburg is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney with 15 years of experience in insurance litigation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in coverage analysis, discovery practice, and litigating insurance-related disputes. This role involves representing clients in all stages of litigation, advising on business decisions, and participating in court hearings, mediations, and trials. Admission to practice law is required.

Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Litigation:

  • Analyze insurance coverage issues and draft detailed coverage analysis and position letters.
  • Represent clients in litigation matters related to insurance disputes, including coverage litigation.
  • Litigate insurance coverage and related matters, including preparing for court hearings, mediations, and trials.


Case Investigation:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of cases, including reviewing documents and interviewing witnesses.
  • Draft and serve discovery demands and respond to discovery requests in a timely and strategic manner.


Motion Practice:

  • Draft, file, and argue motions in insurance litigation cases, including summary judgment motions, motions to dismiss, and other pre-trial and trial motions.


Discovery & Depositions:

  • Manage and conduct extensive discovery, including depositions of key witnesses, expert witnesses, and opposing parties.
  • Review and analyze discovery responses to develop litigation strategies.

Client Advising:

  • Advise clients on business decisions and strategies related to ongoing litigation, insurance policies, and coverage issues.
  • Provide clients with practical, legal, and business advice to navigate complex insurance disputes.

Court Hearings & Trial:

  • Appear on behalf of clients in court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Represent clients during trials, presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and negotiating settlements.

Writing & Research:

  • Conduct legal research on complex insurance-related issues to support ongoing litigation and client advisory work.
  • Draft clear and concise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.


Job Requirements:

  • 15 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on insurance litigation.
  • Proven experience analyzing insurance coverage and drafting coverage analysis and position letters.
  • Prior experience in litigating coverage and other insurance-related disputes, including participation in hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Strong background in discovery practice, including conducting depositions and handling significant amounts of discovery.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex insurance issues and develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Excellent legal writing and drafting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be Bar admitted.
  • Graduation from an accredited law school.
