Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a proactive and experienced Bilingual Immigration Court Attorney to help expand its immigration court practice group. This role involves representing clients in immigration court, drafting legal filings, and guiding clients through complex immigration proceedings. Duties:

  • Court Representation:

    • Draft and file motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents in immigration court.
    • Appear in court for master and individual hearings, representing clients in various immigration matters.
    • Prepare clients for court appearances, ensuring they understand the process and are well-equipped for hearings.
  • Case Management:

    • Review and edit immigration court filings, evidence packets, and applications.
    • Develop court strategies based on client intakes and case reviews.
    • Oversee communication with clients, providing regular updates on case status and legal strategies.
    • Provide strategic insights on case development and legal processes.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience appearing in U.S. immigration courts and handling immigration court filings.
  • Experience with EOIR rules and ECAS (Electronic Case Access System).
  • Ability to draft and file asylum applications, EOIR 42B applications, motions to reopen or terminate proceedings, and other immigration court-related documents.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and family-based immigration visas is a plus.
  • Experience interacting with court clerks and government agencies.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active member in good standing with a state bar.

Skills:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
