Job Overview

A national law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Associate to join its Employee Benefits practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits law and ERISA, including experience with qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, fringe benefits, and mergers & acquisitions.

Duties

  • Advise clients on employee benefits law, including retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare benefits, and fringe benefits.
  • Provide legal counsel on mergers, acquisitions, and downsizing as related to employee benefits.
  • Distill complex legal matters into actionable and easily understandable advice for clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop creative solutions to employee benefits-related issues.
  • Conduct legal research and draft documents, memos, and other written materials.
  • Assist in client presentations and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law and ERISA.
  • Experience with qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and/or M&A-related employee benefits issues.
  • Strong academic credentials with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex legal matters and present them in a client-friendly format.
  • Collaborative team-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for dynamic, entrepreneurial work environments.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in one of the state.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, employee benefits law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
