Energy Associate Attorney
Location: Uniondale, NY

Job Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking an Energy Associate Attorney to join its expanding team. The role will focus on assisting clients in a wide range of energy-related matters, including project development, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and civil and administrative enforcement. The ideal candidate will work with corporate and individual clients such as electric generation facilities, battery energy storage facilities, utilities, energy service companies, and large electricity and gas consumers. The position offers an opportunity to grow within a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in regulatory matters before state and federal agencies
  • Develop strategies for pre-application processes, draft and file applications, and secure project permits from state and federal regulatory bodies
  • Research and summarize federal and state statutes, agency regulations, and orders affecting the energy sector
  • Draft administrative petitions, comments to agencies, complaints/answers, memoranda of law, discovery demands, and responses
  • Handle various forms of dispute resolution and litigation on behalf of clients

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience in general regulatory and/or litigation practice; energy experience is a plus but not required
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with diverse teams
  • Military experience is welcomed

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • New York State Bar admission (or ability to waive in)
