A law firm in Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Electrical and/or Computer Engineering Patent Agent. The successful candidate will conduct patent searches, draft patent applications, and collaborate with inventors and attorneys. The role requires expertise in specialties such as 5G and LTE wireless communications, semiconductors, and computer architecture.

 

Job Details:

  • Conduct patent searches to assess the novelty and patentability of electrical and computer engineering inventions.
  • Draft and prepare patent applications, ensuring technical accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to gather essential information for patent filings.
  • Evaluate and respond to office actions from patent offices to secure patent allowances.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate assessments for electrical engineering inventions.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in patent laws and regulations relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Perform research into developing and emerging technologies.

 

Requirements:

  • Expertise in one or more specialties: 5G and LTE wireless communications, semiconductor knowledge, computer architecture, chip architecture, microprocessors, and advanced microprocessors.
  • Preferred: Masters or PhD in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering.
  • Stellar academic credentials.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in a needed area (e.g., 5G/wireless communications, computer architecture, semiconductors, AI, machine learning, software engineering).
  • Masters or better in Computer Engineering; Masters or better in Electrical Engineering; PHD or better in Computer Engineering; PHD or better in Electrical Engineering.

 

Experience:

2-3 years of experience practicing as a Patent Agent, but the firm is flexible on years of previous Patent Agent experience.
