A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Associate to join its Healthcare & Life Sciences practice in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in patent prosecution, particularly in the life sciences sector, and a working knowledge of technology transactions. Duties

  • Assist in patent prosecution, particularly related to the life sciences industry.
  • Manage patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.
  • Perform intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.
  • Support the negotiation and drafting of technology-related agreements, including collaborations, licensing, outsourcing, and joint ventures.
  • Advise clients on IP strategy and guide commercial agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and draft clear, concise reports, memoranda, and briefs.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to handle various IP-related matters and contribute to business development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably in the life sciences sector.
  • Familiarity with technology transactions such as collaborations, licensing, outsourcing, and joint ventures.
  • Experience in evaluating and managing patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.
  • Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing in Oregon.
  • Admission to the USPTO is required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in Oregon.
  • Admission to the USPTO is required.
