Job Overview:
A law firm in the Greater Los Angeles area is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney with experience in EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in removal defense and handling detained and non-detained cases. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with a team of experienced attorneys while managing your own caseload and assisting clients through the immigration process. Duties:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration centers
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including petitions and motions for removal defense
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on updates to immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations and provide strategic advice
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis and determine the potential benefits of cases for clients
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration matters

Requirements:

  • 1 to 5 years of experience in Immigration Law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward
  • Strong team player with an open and collaborative mindset
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, Detained cases, and Citizenship applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active state bar membership

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and clients
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Proficiency in case management and legal software
