Location:

  • Irvine, CA

Duties:

  • Represent clients in construction litigation, with a primary focus on design professionals (architects and engineers).
  • Handle litigation cases in California state courts, including drafting legal documents, appearing in court, and managing case strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop legal strategies that address complex and technical issues related to design professionals.
  • Participate in direct partner-associate mentoring and regular group training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Assist with other litigation matters as needed, including working across practice areas such as business litigation, trade secrets, employment, trusts and probate, and corporate transactions.
  • Contribute to a team-oriented, client-focused practice by delivering high-quality service with attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of litigation experience in California state courts.
  • Previous experience in construction litigation or design professional representation is highly preferred; however, other types of litigation experience will also be considered.
  • Strong interest in the architects/engineering field and the ability to learn and adapt to technical issues faced by design professionals.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong legal writing skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively convey arguments in legal documents. Writing samples (at least one, ideally two) should be submitted with the application.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in litigation procedures, particularly in construction and design professional matters.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality legal work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and represent clients in complex legal matters.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
