Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Associate Attorney to join their practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience in estate planning, probate and trust administration, and related areas. Duties

  • Independently manage a caseload in various areas of estate planning, probate, and fiduciary administration.
  • Provide legal counsel in the preparation of complex estate plans, including tax-efficient strategies.
  • Administer probate and trust matters from inception to resolution, including court proceedings when necessary.
  • Assist clients with guardianships, special needs planning, and elder law issues.
  • Handle fiduciary income tax preparation and other related tax matters.
  • Offer transactional legal services for family-owned businesses, including entity formation and real estate transactions.
  • Engage in fiduciary litigation and contested probate/guardianship cases.
  • Build and maintain a client base through professional networking, community involvement, and other business development strategies.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including financial advisors, accountants, and community partners.
  • Provide high-quality, personalized legal services while managing client expectations and delivering timely results.

Requirements

  • 4-10 years of experience practicing in estate planning, probate, and related legal fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and complex caseload independently.
  • Proven entrepreneurial drive with experience building and maintaining a client base.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with professional partners and clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary income tax preparation, estate and gift tax planning, and related areas.
  • Ability to handle contested probate and guardianship matters effectively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Wisconsin.
  • Additional certification or specialization in estate planning, tax law, or elder law is a plus.
