Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a mid-level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including handling patent searches, drafting and filing applications, and managing patent portfolios. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of industries, including mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices. Litigation experience is a plus but not required.

Location:

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution matters across various industries
  • Conduct thorough patent searches and provide detailed analysis
  • Draft, file, and manage patent applications with the USPTO
  • Provide strategic portfolio management and intellectual property counsel to clients
  • Assist clients with intellectual property matters, including licensing and IP strategy
  • Optional involvement in patent litigation cases, if desired

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage client relationships
  • Familiarity with patent prosecution procedures and USPTO regulations
  • Litigation experience is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
