Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Health Care Law Attorney with a focus on regulatory and transactional issues in the health care industry. The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of experience advising clients on state and federal compliance challenges. This role offers a combination of independent work with minimal supervision, while being part of a collaborative team providing support for complex health care law matters, including Certificates of Need and government investigations. Administrative hearing experience is a plus, but not required. The candidate must be licensed or eligible to be licensed in Maryland.

Location:

  • Baltimore, Maryland

Duties:

  • Advise clients on regulatory and compliance challenges in health care, including licensure, fraud and abuse, and privacy issues.
  • Respond to inquiries initiated by federal and Maryland agencies regarding health care regulations.
  • Provide proactive advice on fraud and abuse compliance strategies.
  • Structure mergers and acquisitions and employment arrangements in the health care sector.
  • Draft policy documents and applications for state and federal health care programs.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel on health care law issues.
  • Work independently, managing client inquiries and long-term projects, with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by expanding relationships with existing clients and adding new clients to the practice.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in health care law, specifically advising clients on regulatory and transactional issues.
  • Experience with Certificates of Need, government investigations, and fraud and abuse compliance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being part of a collaborative team.
  • Proven ability to manage both ongoing and ad hoc client matters.
  • A strong work ethic and client-focused approach to legal practice.
  • Existing portable business is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed in Maryland.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Maryland Bar, or eligibility to waive in.

Skills:

  • Expertise in health care law, with a focus on regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to advise on complex regulatory matters and provide strategic counsel.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage client relationships.
  • Familiarity with mergers, acquisitions, and employment arrangements within the health care sector.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
