A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate Attorney with a strong background in employment litigation. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in California and have significant experience in managing complex cases, including first or second chair trial, mediation, and other dispute resolution processes. This role demands extensive client contact, excellent case management skills, and the ability to handle substantive legal tasks such as drafting dispositive motions and managing discovery. Experience in the public sector is a plus.

Duties:

  • Conduct substantive witness interviews and manage discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions; regularly appear in court to argue and defend motions.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including demurrers, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Manage case files, oversee case preparation, and coordinate case strategy.
  • Provide extensive client interaction, including regular updates and legal advice.
  • Handle trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes as required.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on case strategies and legal issues.
  • Prepare detailed legal documents and correspondence related to employment litigation.
  • Stay current with developments in employment law and public sector regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour disputes, PAGA, and FSLA matters.
  • Proven experience as 1st or 2nd chair in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and argue dispositive motions effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and case management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA Accredited Law School.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License in the state of California.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in employment litigation and handling complex cases.
  • Proficiency in managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and drafting dispositive motions.
  • Strong analytical and research skills for legal argument preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high-profile litigation matters and work collaboratively with a legal team.
  • Experience in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
