Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an attorney to represent its diverse client base. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients, administrative staff, and senior partners, handling a range of legal matters with professionalism and efficiency. The attorney will oversee a team of paralegals and clerks while managing multiple cases from start to finish.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to administrative staff regarding client billing, invoicing, and project finalization.
  • Draft legal documents such as correspondence, motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Oversee and supervise paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff.
  • Identify client conflicts and develop strategies for case resolutions.
  • Perform legal research and draft briefs, pleadings, and motions.
  • Work independently while managing a diverse caseload of cases.

Requirements:

  • Active member of the Michigan State Bar (or preparing for the February bar exam).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a law firm environment (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong legal research skills, specifically with Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a heavy caseload and manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Previous experience in family law, estate planning, or litigation preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan, or currently preparing for the February bar exam.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis.
