Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels, providing legal counsel to clients, and representing them in court proceedings.

Duties:

• Manage a caseload of criminal defense matters, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding their legal rights and options.
• Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and appeals.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on issues relevant to each case.
• Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare clients for depositions and court appearances.
• Attend court hearings on behalf of clients and negotiate plea agreements when necessary.
• Analyze the probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents and experience.
• Collaborate with the firm's Criminal Defense Team of attorneys and legal assistants.
• Maintain communication with clients throughout the legal process, keeping them informed of developments in their cases.
• Manage workload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience practicing criminal defense law.
• Experience handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Strong courtroom presence and excellent litigation skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
