Job Overview: A law firm specializing in estate planning is seeking a dedicated Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join its team in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload and advise clients on estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters.

Job Duties:

  • Execute case strategy with senior-level attorneys, paralegals, clients, and support staff.
  • Manage a personal caseload, ensuring timely progress and client communication.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients, Certified Public Accountants, Financial Advisors, insurance brokers, beneficiaries, and other legal counsel.
  • Support senior attorneys in drafting legal documents related to estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
  • Advise clients on estate planning, probate, and trust administration issues, ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations.
  • Perform administrative and management tasks related to legal practice.
  • Research complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Attend business development and networking events with firm leadership.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience practicing estate planning law in Oregon and Washington.
  • Demonstrated expertise in estate and tax planning.
  • Active membership with the Oregon State Bar; membership with the Washington State Bar is a plus.
  • LLM in tax planning preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional client service and building strong client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Experience with estate tax returns (federal and state) and gift tax returns preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle a heavy caseload.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • LLM in tax planning (preferred).

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting.
