A law firm seeks an experienced Attorney Specialist to join its Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) practice group in Charlotte, NC. This permanent, full-time position offers a unique opportunity for professionals interested in non-partnership track roles. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in derivatives transactions and repurchase agreements for registered investment companies, such as mutual funds, ETFs, and closed-end funds. The role will support the AMIF attorneys on matters related to complex asset management and investment fund matters. Duties

  • Provide legal support to attorneys on transactions involving derivatives, repurchase agreements, and other related matters for registered investment companies.
  • Work on large mutual fund client relationships, collaborating with partners and associates to address complex regulatory and transactional issues.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for clients in the asset management and investment funds sectors.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including agreements, reports, and correspondence.
  • Participate in project management, working independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and client needs.
  • Engage in regular communication with clients, ensuring a high level of service and addressing client inquiries.
  • Provide legal research and guidance on evolving regulations and industry practices impacting asset management and investment funds.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in asset management and investment fund-related legal work, specifically in derivatives transactions and repurchase agreements.
  • Strong understanding of investment funds, including mutual funds, ETFs, and closed-end funds.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and work collaboratively with clients and team members.
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure while maintaining quality standards.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be admitted to the state bar or eligible for admission to the state bar.
