Job Overview:
A well-established law firm located in downtown New Haven is seeking an experienced Immigration Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will be passionate about immigration law and have hands-on experience managing cases such as family petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Petitions, asylum cases, and removal hearings and appeals. This is a full-time, in-person position. The law firm offers a beautiful office with a view of the town green.

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on immigration cases using tools like Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
  • Draft legal documents, including petitions, applications, and briefs, ensuring compliance with relevant immigration laws
  • Advise clients on immigration procedures and available options
  • Assist clients in preparing for interviews and hearings with USCIS and the Immigration Court
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files and legal documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex immigration matters and case strategies

Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid license to practice law in the State of Connecticut
  • At least one year of experience handling immigration law matters
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high caseload efficiently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the State of Connecticut
