Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team in Charlotte, NC. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, working closely with clients, and collaborating with a skilled immigration team. The attorney will represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings, prepare and review immigration applications, and develop case strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in immigration law, particularly in family-based petitions and litigation, along with a passion for providing excellent legal representation.

Duties:

  • Report to the lead attorney while managing an independent caseload.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings, including non-detained and detained individuals.
  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, petitions, and legal briefs.
  • Provide strategic advice on immigration matters, including family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, and more.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Collaborate with the immigration team to ensure optimal case outcomes.
  • Handle legal writing for briefs, motions, and appeals as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage and advance legal cases independently.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of family-based petitions, removal defense, EOIR, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience representing clients in immigration court and before USCIS.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in immigration law, particularly removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Familiarity with immigration case management software is a plus.
