A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join a thriving legal team in Miami, FL. Duties:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, removal defense, citizenship applications, and more.
  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including detained and non-detained cases.
  • Effectively manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely case progression and high-quality legal services.
  • Conduct in-depth intakes with detained individuals, providing legal counsel and assessing case viability.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, such as removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and petitions to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on evolving immigration laws and policies.
  • Meet with potential clients to conduct consultations, provide strategic guidance, and develop legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, court appearances, and USCIS interviews.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to analyze case options and identify potential benefits or risks.
  • Draft, prepare, and file legal briefs, motions, and other documents for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law, particularly in areas such as removal defense, family-based immigration, EOIR, detained cases, and citizenship matters.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a substantial caseload effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on clarity and client interaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to the development of case strategies.
  • Experience working with immigration case management software is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism and empathy in client relationships.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar or eligibility to practice in Florida.

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of immigration law, including family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, removal proceedings, and citizenship applications.
  • Expertise in legal research, case analysis, and writing.
  • Proficient in preparing legal briefs and motions for various immigration matters.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for clients, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a track record of handling complex caseloads.
