Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patent prosecution for life sciences-related inventions, including drafting, filing, and managing patent applications.
  • Review and analyze patent portfolios to provide strategic advice and support.
  • Conduct prior art searches and prepare detailed patentability opinions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, legal teams, and clients to gather necessary information and ensure effective patent protection.
  • Prepare responses to Office Actions and other correspondence from the USPTO.
  • Stay updated on current developments and trends in life sciences and patent law.
  • Assist in litigation support and other intellectual property matters as needed.

Requirements:

  • USPTO registration as a Patent Agent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct patent prosecution experience in life sciences.
  • Advanced degree in a life sciences field (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Technical writing proficiency is preferred.

Education:

  • Advanced degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related life sciences field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Patent Agent registration.
