A law firm is seeking a talented and experienced Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Princeton, NJ office. The ideal candidate will have significant exposure to both federal and state environmental laws, including areas such as environmental compliance, regulations, enforcement, and litigation. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to provide legal guidance on a variety of environmental issues. This role involves managing client matters related to remediation actions under state and federal environmental laws, particularly CERCLA. Candidates must be self-driven, collaborative, and hold exceptional academic and professional credentials. Admission to practice law in New Jersey is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Litigation:
    Represent clients in environmental litigation and enforcement matters, focusing on both state and federal environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Environmental Compliance:
    Advise clients on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, helping them navigate complex statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Transactional Support:
    Provide legal counsel on environmental risks and liabilities in business transactions, including conducting due diligence and advising on regulatory implications.
  • Remediation Representation:
    Manage the representation of clients in connection with sites requiring remedial action under federal and state environmental laws, particularly focusing on CERCLA.
  • Legal Research and Writing:
    Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft clear, persuasive legal memoranda, briefs, pleadings, and other necessary legal documents.
  • Client Communication:
    Regularly communicate with clients to provide updates, strategic advice, and guidance on complex environmental issues.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with other attorneys, partners, and legal staff to develop case strategies, ensuring optimal results for clients.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in environmental litigation or environmental law.
  • Licensure:
    • Must be admitted to practice law in New Jersey or be eligible for admission.
  • Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of state and federal environmental laws, including CERCLA, environmental compliance, and enforcement.
    • Proven ability to manage environmental cases, especially those related to remediation efforts under CERCLA.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent legal research and writing skills, with the ability to draft complex legal documents and arguments.
    • Strong analytical skills for evaluating environmental laws and regulations and applying them to a variety of client matters.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.):
