Job Overview:
A well-established and reputable law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking a Family Law Attorney with a passion for family law and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will either have their own caseload or at least one year of experience in family law, or be a newly licensed North Carolina attorney eager to begin a career in family law. The attorney will be expected to represent clients in hearings and trials, draft legal documents, provide legal research, and interact with clients frequently. The firm offers a supportive team environment and a chance to work on a variety of family law matters.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research using legal software, including Lexis-Nexis, to support case preparation.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other involved parties to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
  • Coordinate with senior-level attorneys to prepare for trials, hearings, and mediations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and responses to discovery requests.
  • Engage in legal strategy discussions and case planning with clients and senior attorneys.
  • Provide excellent client service and representation in all family law matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina and in good standing.
  • At least 1 year of experience in family law (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Mecklenburg County Local Rules is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and effectively.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Education:

  • Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school (required).

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina (required).

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing (using tools such as Lexis-Nexis).
  • Case management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle a diverse family law caseload.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.
