A law firm is seeking a Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney to join their team in Boston, MA. This role requires substantial knowledge of privacy laws at the federal, state, and international levels, with a focus on providing practical advice to clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all elements of case work-up and trial preparation, including drafting briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Provide legal counsel and practical advice on privacy-related litigation and incident response matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws, with a focus on litigation support and proactive incident response.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategies for handling legal risks associated with data privacy and technology transactions.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues related to privacy, data breaches, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Draft and negotiate tech transaction agreements, focusing on data protection, data sharing, and related issues.
  • Interact with clients to address their concerns and provide strategic legal guidance on privacy matters.
  • Assist clients in navigating litigation related to data privacy breaches and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, administrative hearings, and negotiations related to privacy incidents.
  • Keep up to date with evolving legal standards and best practices in tech transactions and data privacy laws.

Requirements:

  • Substantial litigation experience, including case management and trial preparation in privacy litigation.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills with experience drafting briefs, complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and international privacy laws is a significant plus.
  • Ability to offer practical legal advice to clients on privacy-related litigation and incident response matters.
  • Immediate experience interacting with clients and handling sophisticated legal matters.
  • Strong understanding of data protection frameworks, privacy regulations (such as GDPR, and CCPA), and technology-related agreements.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in the state of Massachusetts or eligibility to obtain membership.
  • Excellent academic credentials, with a strong performance in privacy and technology law courses, preferred.

Skills:

  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues for non-legal professionals.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with sophisticated legal issues.
  • Proficiency in managing large-scale litigation and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Practical experience in privacy laws, data protection, and incident response, with the ability to advise clients on regulatory compliance.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in privacy litigation, ideally in a law firm or similar environment.
