A law firm seeks a skilled and dedicated Litigation Attorney to join their team in the Lower Hudson Valley area. This position presents an excellent opportunity for an attorney with at least 3 years of litigation experience to manage cases independently while collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of litigation, including pleading, motion practice, discovery, and settlement. While trial experience is preferred, it is not a requirement for this position.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse litigation caseload from the pleading stage through to settlement or trial.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex legal matters, providing insight and assistance.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and rules.
  • Conduct discovery, including preparing and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and depositions.
  • Represent clients in settlement negotiations, striving to reach favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, litigation vendors, and colleagues.
  • Provide sound legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the litigation process.
  • Assist in trial preparation when necessary, including organizing case materials and preparing witnesses.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of recent litigation experience in New York (candidates with less experience may be considered if they possess other relevant qualifications).
  • Proven experience in pleadings, motion practice, discovery, and settlement negotiation.
  • Strong oral communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • A genuine passion for the practice of law.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative setting.
  • Willingness to live in or relocate to the Lower Hudson Valley area.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State.
