Duties:

  • Provide clear explanations of immigration laws and devise strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload effectively while maintaining communication with clients.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and review a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and ensure any necessary adjustments are made for accuracy.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on changes to immigration law.
  • Consult with potential clients to determine the best immigration strategy and path forward.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to explore potential benefits in their cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Ability to effectively manage a caseload and prioritize workload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience working with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR cases, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship issues, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and devise strategic solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Client-focused approach with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
