Job Overview: A well-known law firm is looking to hire a Construction Law Associate with 2-3 years of experience to join its Real Estate Group. The role involves providing both transactional and litigation support in construction and development matters. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating agreements, advising on claims and disputes, and assisting with arbitration and litigation. The firm offers a collaborative environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth.

Location:

  • Austin, TX

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements across various sectors.
  • Draft and negotiate EPC contracts for large infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Provide strategic advice on claims management, including change orders, extra work claims, delays, and construction defects.
  • Support litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to advise clients on construction-related issues and disputes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction law, including contracting and development matters.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating design, construction, and development agreements.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard agreements, such as AIA and similar forms.
  • Experience with litigation and arbitration is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the jurisdiction where the position is located.
