A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Mid-Level Project Finance Associate Attorney to join their Energy, Infrastructure, Project, and Asset Finance practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project development and finance, with a particular focus on renewable and alternative energy sectors. This role requires managing deal teams, conducting due diligence, and advising clients on a wide range of financing transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead and manage deal teams and processes across various practice areas and geographic locations.
  • Research and Drafting: Conduct brief or complex research and draft memoranda based on client needs.
  • Due Diligence: Oversee and perform due diligence activities to support financing and acquisition transactions.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and other transactional legal teams.
  • Communication: Exercise sound judgment in internal and external communications, both written and verbal.
  • Legal Assistance: Provide direct support to senior lawyers on day-to-day legal services for international and domestic clients.
  • Counseling: Advise clients on financing transactions including asset-based finance, leveraged finance, and acquisition finance.
  • Specialized Advice: Counsel private equity funds, financial institutions, and borrowers on the financing, development, and restructuring of renewable energy facilities and clean technology assets.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and train junior team members, and participate in continuing education classes and client development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school (LLM or foreign equivalent is acceptable).
  • Licensing: Licensed, or eligible to become licensed, to practice law in New York or Illinois.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of law firm or in-house project finance experience, with a focus on renewable energy investment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to manage time effectively and stay composed under pressure.
    • Strong drafting skills and commercial awareness.
