Duties

• Organize and maintain case files, manage calendar, and ensure all deadlines are met
• Coordinate discovery and investigation efforts while maintaining communication with relevant parties
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case progress, costs, and expenses
• Draft pleadings, motion papers, memoranda, demands, and notices
• Prepare for trial, including creating trial notebooks and conducting comprehensive legal analysis
• Strategize and negotiate settlements for civil disputes
• Capture expected billable hours efficiently
• Perform thorough legal research
• Attend court hearings and prepare cases for presentation
• Assist in the preparation and submission of appeals when necessary

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Must be admitted to practice law in New York State
• Must obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of employment
• 1-2 years of experience drafting motion papers or pleadings
• Strong understanding of procedural rules for both trial and appellate courts
• Introductory knowledge of trial court rules
• Ability to perform independent and collaborative legal work
• Punctual with excellent work attendance, including timely court appearances
• Computer literacy is required, including familiarity with modern legal software and database operations

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to New York State Courts (or pending)
• Admission to Federal District Courts (required within 18 months)
