Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an admitted New York State Bar Attorney to join its legal team in Bay Shore, NY. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, providing the flexibility of both remote and in-office work. The firm focuses on creditors' rights litigation and seeks an attorney who can actively manage foreclosure cases, appear in court, and handle a range of litigation responsibilities. Duties:

  • Represent clients in Supreme Court proceedings across the five boroughs, Nassau County, and Suffolk County.
  • Manage foreclosure case files, including:
    • Reviewing case materials and related documents
    • Performing legal research and drafting motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements
    • Attending conferences, hearings, motion calendars, and status appearances
  • Advocate on behalf of the plaintiff in foreclosure actions.
  • Collaborate with legal support staff and other attorneys to ensure thorough case preparation and compliance with procedural rules.
  • Keep clients informed on case progress, providing strategic guidance where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York State.
  • Prior experience with foreclosure litigation, creditors’ rights law, or related practice areas preferred, but willingness to learn and gain court experience will be strongly considered.
  • Ability to travel to courts across New York City, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, with an effort made to assign court appearances closest to the attorney’s residence.
  • Strong advocacy skills, with confidence in oral argument and courtroom presentation.
  • Strong organizational abilities to effectively manage multiple files and deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in New York State (required).

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and drafting abilities.
  • Strong legal research skills to craft well-supported motions and arguments.
  • Effective oral advocacy, both in court and when negotiating settlements.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to court procedures and evolving case law in foreclosure and creditors’ rights matters.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, especially in client interactions and court appearances.
