Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a Data, Privacy, and Cyber-Security Associate Attorney to join its Washington, DC office. The candidate will provide dynamic and practical legal counsel to some of the most innovative digital health companies on rapidly evolving privacy and security issues. This role requires extensive knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy/security regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional legal teams to deliver client-centric solutions is critical to this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise health and life sciences companies on cutting-edge privacy, security, and data protection issues.
  • Counsel clients on HIPAA compliance and other relevant privacy and security regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys across multiple practice areas to address complex legal matters.
  • Provide legal support to technology and digital health companies, ensuring compliance with evolving legal frameworks.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and emerging privacy/security threats affecting healthcare and life sciences sectors.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review privacy policies, data-sharing agreements, and other documents.
  • Manage data breaches and incident responses, including working with regulators and clients to address cybersecurity concerns.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of legal experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, particularly in health and life sciences.
  • Significant experience with HIPAA and other data privacy regulations.
  • Experience with technology companies is a plus.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education & Certifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Washington, DC, or eligible for admission.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of health information technologies and digital health innovations.
  • Ability to manage complex legal projects with minimal supervision.
