Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Law Associate to join its team and support a wide range of complex environmental regulatory compliance, enforcement, litigation, brownfield redevelopment, and real property and M&A transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on matters involving federal environmental laws, as well as experience or strong interest in Minnesota or Wisconsin environmental regulatory programs. Substantive experience in both environmental regulatory compliance and transactional matters is a plus. 

Location:

  • Madison, WI

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Provide counsel on environmental regulatory programs in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
  • Support environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement matters.
  • Assist in brownfield redevelopment and real property M&A transactional matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental issues.
  • Draft legal documents, including memoranda, letters, and contracts.
  • Represent clients in environmental litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to manage case files and client communications.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience with federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience with or demonstrated interest in environmental regulatory programs in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, research, and writing skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage client relationships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Ability to be promptly admitted in the state of Wisconsin.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in legal research and use of legal databases.
