A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-3 years of experience in a litigation environment. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the firm's principals, assisting in all phases of trial and appellate work, from initial case preparation through trial and appeal. The ideal candidate must be an active/current District of Columbia Bar member, with additional Bar memberships preferred.

Duties:

  • Assist in all phases of trial and appellate work.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
  • Manage case files, emphasizing planning, development, and creative solutions for resolving cases.
  • Collaborate with clients and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Review and analyze discovery materials.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active/current member of the District of Columbia Bar.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a litigation environment.
  • Excellent writing and research skills.
  • Ability to analyze and manage case files effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Bar memberships (e.g., Virginia, Maryland, New York).
  • Law review or journal experience.
  • Judicial clerkship experience.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with general legal principles in contracts, torts, and constitutional law.
  • Understanding of rules of evidence, court, and trial procedures.
  • Proficiency in methods and requirements of legal discovery and legal research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
