Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm based in Las Vegas, NV, seeks a skilled Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Services group. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology and experience in patent law. The Patent Agent will collaborate closely with patent attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support in navigating the patenting process.

Duties:

• Collaborate with inventors on newly developed products to identify patentable inventions.
• Research existing patented technologies to enhance client patent applications.
• Draft patent applications, working closely with the patent team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor the patent application process from initial submission to final granting of patents, ensuring timelines are met.
• Perform regular ability searches to support patentability assessments.
• Address client challenges effectively, providing timely responses to their needs.
• Communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, managing office actions and correspondence.
• Maintain consistent billable hour requirements to align with firm objectives.

Requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in patent law is essential.
• Licenses/Certifications: USPTO Registration is mandatory.
• Physical Activity: The ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer is necessary.
