The Patent Agent will collaborate closely with patent attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support in navigating the patenting process.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with inventors on newly developed products to identify patentable inventions.
  • Research existing patented technologies to enhance client patent applications.
  • Draft patent applications, working closely with the patent team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor the patent application process from initial submission to final granting of patents, ensuring timelines are met.
  • Perform regular ability searches to support patentability assessments.
  • Address client challenges effectively, providing timely responses to their needs.
  • Communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, managing office actions and correspondence.
  • Maintain consistent billable hour requirements to align with firm objectives.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in patent law is essential.
  • Licenses/Certifications: USPTO Registration is mandatory.
  • Physical Activity: The ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer is necessary.
