Duties:

  • Conducting patentability and clearance searches.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Providing counsel on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright law.
  • Assisting with IP litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Conducting due diligence for corporate transactions involving intellectual property.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar is in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, preferably with a focus on mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Ohio.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting patent searches and drafting patent applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property databases and software.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or material science.
  • Prior experience with patent portfolio management.
  • Experience in client counseling and providing strategic advice on intellectual property matters.
