Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking an associate to join its Environment & Energy Practice Group in Newark, NJ. The position is ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of experience in environmental law, particularly in litigation, regulatory, or transactional matters. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, excellent writing skills, and knowledge of Federal or State environmental laws. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Superfund, NRD, or toxic tort litigation.

Location:

  • Newark, NJ

Duties:

  • Handle environmental litigation, regulatory, and transactional matters.
  • Provide legal support on matters involving Federal and State environmental laws.
  • Represent clients in cases involving Superfund, NRD, or toxic torts.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare for litigation or regulatory proceedings.
  • Advise clients on environmental compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to solve complex environmental law issues.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental law.
  • Experience in litigation, regulatory compliance, or transactional matters.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental laws.
  • Preferred experience in litigation related to Superfund, NRD, or toxic tort matters.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in PA and/or NJ preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Strong research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

This firm has given a lot of thought to the interplay between the New York and the New Jersey legal markets. Although one of the oldest and largest in New Jersey, this firm wants to capture the Manhattan type work at Manhattan type billing rates.
