Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled Mid-Level Employee Benefits Executive Compensation Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including drafting, design, implementation, and administration of various plans, as well as taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans, and executive compensation arrangements.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and administration of tax-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Handle executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Address taxation issues about executive compensation arrangements, including Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to assess and mitigate legal risks associated with employee benefits and executive compensation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or ability to waive in).
  • 3+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Prior experience in a law firm environment is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or ability to waive in).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and agreements.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits and executive compensation laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
