A law firm in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to handle employment and civil rights matters. The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in litigation, focusing on issues such as police and prison abuses, racial harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other employment-related matters. The role involves managing all aspects of litigation, including negotiations, discovery, hearings, and trials. The candidate should be adept at working independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle employment and civil rights litigation, including matters related to police and prison abuses, racial harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee discipline, whistleblower issues, and contract disputes.
  • Manage all aspects of litigation, including negotiations, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Work directly with clients to provide legal advice, develop case strategies, and manage case progress.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the firm to build case strategies and coordinate efforts.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in court, during depositions, and in other legal proceedings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations throughout case management.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and opposing counsel.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Virginia Bar license is required.
  • DC Bar license is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in litigation, specifically in employment and civil rights matters.
  • Proven experience in handling complex litigation cases.
