A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its growing team in Orange, California. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 5-8 years of experience in immigration law to take on a leadership role, manage a caseload, and guide clients through complex immigration proceedings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in removal defense, family-based petitions, and other immigration matters, and will be a key player in the firm’s immigration practice. Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel and develop strategic solutions for a wide range of immigration issues.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a diverse caseload involving both detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Conduct client intake interviews at detention centers and advise on legal options.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief.
  • Review immigration filings for completeness and accuracy, and make necessary revisions.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on matters related to immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients, assess their needs, and devise appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and other documentation for immigration cases.
  • Maintain and update case records using case management software.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in immigration law, with a strong focus on removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian cases.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Expertise in family-based immigration, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Ability to develop and execute legal strategies tailored to clients' needs.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail in managing cases and client documentation.
  • Proficiency in legal technologies and case management tools.
