A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Housing Team in Salem, MA. The ideal candidate will focus on housing-related matters, including representing housing authorities in state and federal public housing cases, as well as assisting private landlords and tenants with summary process actions. Duties:

  • Represent housing authorities, landlords, and tenants in state, federal, and public housing matters.
  • Handle landlord-tenant disputes, including summary process actions, evictions, and related legal proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and draft comprehensive motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediations or hearings.
  • Collaborate with other team members on case strategies, and provide legal support as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
  • Stay updated on housing law developments and apply legal knowledge to case strategies.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research, writing, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a focus on achieving client goals.
  • Experience in housing law or landlord-tenant law is preferred but not required. New attorneys are encouraged to apply.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar or eligibility to practice in Massachusetts.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to handle negotiations and client relationships effectively.
  • Knowledge of housing and landlord-tenant law (preferred, but not required).
