Bellingham office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks associate attorney with experience. The candidate provides legal representation to clients at all stages of legal proceedings. Reviews discovery and court pleadings research legal issues raised by the facts and counsels clients involved in these proceedings. Directs investigation of cases and communicates on a regular basis with investigators and experts to coordinate internees, disclosures, and use of the discovery process to compel records. Visits crime scenes and all other case-related sites. Prepares and brings motions, and presents legal arguments clearly and logically in written and verbal form. Conducts pretrial negotiations with assigned prosecutors. Conducts bench trials and jury trials. Communicates regularly with clients. Works cooperatively with co-counsel, staff, and interns. Independently manages a caseload with efficiency to ensure each client receives the best possible representation. Comply with continuing requirements to improve effectiveness. Maintain knowledge of current practices and developments in the law. Attend continuing legal education seminars as required by the WSBA. Interact with all participants of the criminal justice system in a way that promotes respect, including clients who may be struggling. Comply with Rules of Professional Conduct. Previous experience in criminal law is preferred. Should be a Member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association. Strong communication skills are needed.
