Job Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of case work-up, including pretrial preparation, trial strategies, and case management.
  • Handle litigation matters involving privacy and data security, including drafting briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Provide practical and timely legal advice to clients on data privacy incidents, privacy laws, and related compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement data breach response strategies and ensure compliance with applicable data privacy regulations.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to federal, state, and international privacy laws, and apply findings to client issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate tech transaction agreements, including those related to data security and privacy.
  • Stay current with changes in data privacy regulations and industry standards to provide informed legal advice.
  • Engage in direct client communication, offering legal strategies and solutions for complex data privacy and tech transaction issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to manage sophisticated privacy litigation matters.
  • Assist in the development of internal processes for handling incident response and breach notification obligations.

Requirements

  • Significant litigation experience, ideally in privacy litigation or related fields.
  • Proven experience managing all elements of case work-up, including pretrial motions and trial preparation.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting briefs, complaints, and discovery requests.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and international privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to provide practical and actionable advice to clients on data privacy, security, and incident response matters.
  • Excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Demonstrated superior communication, writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or a similar professional legal environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic record preferred.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in good standing (Delaware Bar preferred or eligibility to waive into the Delaware Bar).
