Job Title: Environmental, Energy, Mining, and Transportation Attorney
Job Location: Kansas City, MO (Hybrid)

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a qualified attorney to join its Energy, Environmental, Mining, and Transportation division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on regulatory counseling and litigation with a focus on environmental and energy law. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in working with federal agencies and have a strong background in advising on major federal environmental statutes.

Duties:

  • Provide counsel and litigation services on matters related to environmental and energy law.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Manage e-discovery processes, factual investigations, and development.
  • Advise clients on federal statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and CERCLA.
  • Participate in rulemaking processes, enforcement procedures, and permit advisory.
  • Lead and manage teams of attorneys on complex regulatory matters.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, particularly in the manufacturing, transportation, or mining sectors.
  • Analyze and strategize on legal challenges with creative and innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental or energy law, including regulatory counseling or litigation.
  • Experience working with federal agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Justice, is preferred.
  • Proven ability to draft legal documents and manage complex legal matters.
  • Familiarity with key environmental and energy regulations and statutes.
  • Administrative law experience, including advising on permitting and rulemaking.
  • Ability to handle a variety of legal challenges with a strategic approach.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring teams of legal professionals.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in MO.

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with administrative and civil litigation processes.
  • Ability to engage effectively with clients and build business relationships.
  • Expertise in regulatory frameworks and environmental law compliance.
