Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and motivated Mid-level International Arbitration Associate Attorney to join their New York City office. This role requires a professional with significant experience in international arbitration, particularly with well-known arbitral institutions, and a strong background in general litigation matters. The ideal candidate will possess excellent drafting and research skills, the ability to manage complex cases, and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties verbally and in writing.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables and respond to phone calls and correspondence promptly.
  • Provide timely, accurate work product and meet deadlines and expectations consistently.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices.
  • Engage in physical and sedentary activities, including working at a computer, participating in digital/virtual conference calls, and attending meetings.
  • Perform additional duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Admission to the New York Bar.
  • 4-6 years of legal experience, including work in a global law firm with a US presence.
  • Meaningful experience in international arbitration under the rules of institutions such as ICC, ICDR/AAA, LCIA, SIAC, etc., with preference for experience in Investor-State arbitration and commercial arbitration.
  • Experience in general litigation, with a preference for arbitration-related litigation and enforcement matters.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the New York Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and research skills, with experience in NY or other US jurisdictions; knowledge of public international law is helpful.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of work product with minimal oversight.
  • Collegial and collaborative approach with a team-player attitude.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Foreign language skills (Spanish, French, and Arabic are highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated commitment to building profile, marketing, and business development efforts in arbitration.
