A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Litigation Attorney to join its team in San Diego, California. This full-time position is ideal for attorneys with 1-3 years of experience or newly licensed professionals with relevant internship experience. The selected candidate will engage in a variety of litigation tasks, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, preparing motions, and participating in depositions. The firm offers a supportive and dynamic environment where you will handle cases across multiple legal areas and develop your skills in litigation.

Duties:

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant issues.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions and other legal proceedings.
  • Assist in developing case strategies with senior attorneys.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Stay current on California Civil Procedures, legal precedents, and court rulings.
  • Contribute to the overall success of litigation cases from initiation to resolution.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a licensed attorney. Newly barred candidates with internship experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Prior litigation experience, particularly in drafting and arguing motions and handling depositions.
  • In-depth knowledge of California Civil Procedures and relevant legal standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex legal issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting legal concepts.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and analysis.
  • Strong drafting abilities for pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Comfortable with litigation processes, including depositions and court appearances.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of California Civil Procedures and legal precedents.
  • Experience with cannabis and land use law is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with senior attorneys and clients.
