Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated associate attorney with 0-5 years of experience to join its energy and natural resources practice, specifically focusing on mineral title matters. This opportunity offers flexibility to work from any of the firm’s offices across multiple states or in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with legal teams and clients. Duties:

  • Conduct title examinations and prepare comprehensive title opinions related to energy and mineral properties.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret complex property records, deeds, leases, and other related documents.
  • Collaborate with clients, land professionals, and legal teams to address title defects and provide solutions.
  • Draft legal documents, including title curative instruments and related agreements.
  • Stay up to date on evolving state and federal laws governing mineral ownership and energy development.
  • Provide clear, client-focused communication regarding legal findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with due diligence efforts for energy transactions and acquisitions.

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of legal experience, ideally with a focus on property and/or mineral title work within the energy sector.
  • Ability to conduct meticulous document reviews and draft well-structured legal opinions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong client-service mindset with excellent interpersonal abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in one of the firm’s operating states.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with preference for states relevant to energy-producing regions.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and oral communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with title examination tools and legal research platforms.
