Job Title: Litigation Special Counsel

Job Location: Tampa, FL

Job Overview:

A well-established law firm is seeking talented litigation attorneys with 2-5 years of experience to join its growing Litigation Department as Special Counsel. This is a full-time, non-partner track role focused on supporting the firm’s Construction Practice Group. The firm is looking for self-driven professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment, possess strong legal research and writing skills, and have experience managing complex cases. The preferred location for this role is Tampa, but qualified candidates from other cities in Florida will also be considered.

Duties:

• Manage and oversee a wide range of litigation matters, primarily in the areas of construction, insurance claims, and design defect disputes.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and respond to discovery requests.
• Represent clients in arbitration, depositions, and court hearings.
• Prepare legal documents and argue motions in court when applicable.
• Coordinate with support staff, paralegals, and legal teams to ensure efficient case management.
• Support senior attorneys in case strategy development and client consultations.
• Ensure timely and accurate case updates for clients and internal teams.
• Actively participate in mediation and settlement negotiations.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2-5 years of litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Hands-on experience with discovery, motion drafting, depositions, and court hearings.
• Experience in arbitration and mediation is highly preferred.
• Prior experience in construction law, design defects, and insurance-related litigation is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a high volume of cases.
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Leadership potential, with experience or interest in managing support staff is beneficial.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of the Florida Bar.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Florida Bar is required.
