Job Overview:

An established, multi-state law firm specializing in real estate and creditors' rights is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney to support its Illinois practice. The firm represents institutional and private lenders and provides services across various legal areas, including foreclosure, bankruptcy, and consumer collections. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney to handle a significant caseload, gain exposure to complex legal matters, and work in a dynamic and supportive environment. Location:

  • Metairie, LA

Duties:

  • Manage a significant caseload within creditors' rights, real estate, and litigation
  • Handle discovery practices, depositions, and conflict resolution for clients
  • Represent clients in court, including appellate work and case strategy
  • Assist in growing the firm’s reputation and presence in the legal community
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships
  • Participate in business development efforts and outreach
  • Travel to court appearances and client meetings as required

Requirements:

  • Member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar
  • Newly licensed attorneys may apply, but 5+ years of litigation experience is preferred
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases in creditors' rights and related areas
  • Familiarity with discovery practices, depositions, and conflict resolution
  • Appellate experience, knowledge of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and the Bankruptcy Code preferred
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Strong judgment and commitment to providing superior client support
  • Court appearances and some travel required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar (required)
  • Additional Bar licenses are a plus
