Job Overview:
A well-established law firm, located in Charleston, SC, is seeking an experienced attorney specializing in healthcare billing and reimbursement requirements. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in advising clients on compliance matters related to Medicare, Medicaid, and VA/Tricare, while also having a deep understanding of federal fraud and abuse laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the False Claims Act. The role requires providing counsel to healthcare entities like hospitals, physicians, skilled nursing facilities, and academic medical centers.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance on billing and reimbursement processes for healthcare clients, including hospitals, physicians, and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Advise clients on healthcare enrollment and claims submission processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal fraud and abuse laws, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and the False Claims Act.
  • Assist clients in structuring business relationships to comply with healthcare regulations.
  • Address healthcare reimbursement issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, and VA/Tricare programs.
  • Offer strategic legal advice to healthcare organizations on risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Handle client matters with a focus on healthcare-related policy and legislation.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in healthcare billing and reimbursement law.
  • Expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and VA/Tricare reimbursement regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal fraud and abuse laws.
  • Experience advising healthcare clients, including hospitals, home health agencies, and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Strong background in structuring business relationships and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of private payor issues is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the relevant state(s).

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in at least one state, preferably South Carolina.
