Patent Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking to hire Patent Attorneys to join its Intellectual Property group. The ideal candidate will be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office and have experience in semiconductor or software technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning. This role involves significant responsibility with direct client interaction and offers the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively on complex patent prosecution matters. A strong background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101, is essential.

Location:

• St. Louis, MO

Duties:

• Interview inventors and draft patent applications.
• Prosecute patent applications, including overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
• Provide legal counsel to clients on patent matters, particularly in semiconductor or software technologies.
• Work on patent filings related to AI, machine learning, and other advanced technologies.
• Engage with clients directly and contribute to the development of client strategies.
• Manage multiple tasks effectively while working independently or as part of a team.

Requirements:

• Registered to practice before the United States Patent Office (USPTO).
• 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting and overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
• Experience with semiconductor or software patent law, particularly in AI/ML.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Law firm experience is highly preferred.

Education:

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Technical degree (e.g., engineering, computer science, or related field) is preferred.

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration (required).

Skills:

• Expertise in patent law, particularly patent prosecution.
• Familiarity with semiconductor and software patent law, including AI/ML technologies.
• Excellent drafting, interviewing, and client communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
